What to know
The home-charger grant is worth up to €300 towards the purchase and installation of a domestic charge point, and is open to homeowners with off-street parking, whether or not you currently own an EV. A fitted charger is faster, safer and cheaper to run than a granny cable, and if you charge on a night rate the savings against public charging are large.
The cost story is where the decision is made. On a night tariff, home charging can cost a fraction of a public fast charger per 100 km — and far less than petrol.
